Two moms met at an adoption conference in TX over 5 years ago. Three short years later, God would bring them together again, this time in Southern CA. Shauna Vaughan, mother to 7 children, and Lisa Nighswonger, mother to children, bonded quickly as they openly shared their joy and struggles of the adoption journey.
In February of 2015, Shauna invited Lisa to a 3-day retreat for adoptive moms in Atlanta, GA. Although hesitant at first, Lisa was in a difficult season and knew she needed to be encouraged and she's not one to miss out on a good time. After an incredible time of worship, encouragement, and prayer with hundreds of other adoptive moms, Shauna and Lisa boarded the plane and headed back to Los Angeles. They both knew God was asking them to do something but not sure what.
Understanding all too well the lack of aftercare for adoptive families, Shauna and Lisa knew they needed to offer hope to their fellow moms. Six months later God took a desire, a passion, and an undeniable need and turned it into reality.
The heart of Mosaic is to create a safe atmosphere where adoptive moms can come as they are, joyful or broken, energized or exhausted, and worship with other woman who share very similar life journeys. It is a day of worship, prayer, and encouragement through the Word. And, of course, lots of chocolate and fun!
